Acting on the complaints, Gbajabiamila reportedly petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force on October 17, 2025, requesting an investigation into what he described as the activities of fraudsters forging appointment letters purportedly issued from his office.
The Presidency on Wednesday mounted a robust defence of Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, releasing a detailed account of investigations it claimed exposed Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew as the operator of a fictitious presidential agency months before he accused the presidential aide of corruption.
The State House said records from the Office of the Chief of Staff, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Nigeria Police Force showed that Adeyemi was never appointed by President Bola Tinubu or any government authority but allegedly forged official documents to present himself as Director-General of the non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
The detailed rebuttal, contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, comes barely 24 hours after former Vice President Atiku Abubakar called on President Tinubu to suspend Gbajabiamila over allegations of a ₦400 million bribery scandal and the controversial inclusion of the PFIPC and the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) in the 2026 Appropriation Act.
