Andhra Pradesh chief commissioner of state tax A Babu on Wednesday said the state has sustained strong momentum in June 2026 with a tax revenue of nearly ₹5,000 crore, clocking a 16 per cent growth year-on-year compared to June 2025.According to him, revenue rose by ₹664 crore compared to June 2025 while net GST grew by 21 per cent to ₹3,144 crore in the same period, logging a rise of ₹553 crore.“Andhra Pradesh sustains strong momentum in June with ₹4,829 crore... Net GST grows 21 per cent to ₹3,144 crore,” he said in an official press release.Growth led by Net GSTContinuing the strong performance seen in April and May, 2026, Babu said the total commercial taxes for the first quarter of FY27 rose to ₹15,323 crore from ₹12,480 crore a year earlier, registering a 23 per cent growth.He said this growth was led by Net GST, which increased by 25 per cent from nearly ₹8,000 crore to ₹10,000 crore, alongside a 21.2 per cent rise in VAT on petroleum products.Building on the six per cent cumulative growth achieved in 2025-26, the Commercial Taxes Department has maintained its trajectory of disciplined revenue mobilisation, he said.The chief commissioner of state tax said net GST collections of ₹3,144 crore in June 2026 reflects consumption and that the rise is driven by improved tax compliance, stronger enforcement, enhanced revenue monitoring and broader economic activity.New initiativesNew initiatives introduced during the year — AI-based data analytics, AI-powered scrutiny, AI-based IGST reversals, UPI-based analytics enforcement, DISCOM-linked registration verification and Aadhaar-integrated expansion of Profession Tax — generated significant incremental revenue, strengthening June 2026 collections, said Babu.Further, he said IGST settlement in June 2026 stood at ₹1,898 crore, an increase of ₹533 crore compared to June 2025, representing the largest single-month growth in IGST settlement to date.Noting that the commercial taxes department has made technology the cornerstone of its enforcement strategy, Babu said deploying AI and data analytics ecosystem has transformed the pace, precision and productivity of tax administration.He said AI-powered scrutiny, Aadhaar-based authentication, performance dashboards, inter-departmental data sharing, digital payment enablement and predictive analytics have played a key role.Andhra Pradesh continues to set a benchmark for modern tax administration and is well-positioned for sustained and accelerated revenue growth in 2026-27, underpinning the state's developmental ambitions, Babu added.Published on July 2, 2026
