Newly released emails suggest Robert F Kennedy Jr took part in a vaccine-related mission during a 2019 trip to Samoa, months before a deadly measles outbreak, questioning his repeated claims that the visit had nothing to do with vaccines.
The emails, reviewed by the Guardian, show Kennedy’s colleague, Dr Michael Graven, told Samoan officials the trip involved studying medical records linked to a discontinuity in vaccinations.
“We all look forward to the opportunity to be of service to the people of Samoa with our mission,” Graven wrote in March 2019.
In a later email in May 2019, Graven described the work in more detail, saying it involved health informatics evaluation from medical record data from all hospitals and clinics in Samoa to evaluate outcomes associated with the recent discontinuity in vaccinations.
In one email dated 8 March 2019, Graven said he would be with Mr Kennedy as the Health Informatician who would be performing the statistical investigations.
