Finance Minister and Eurogroup President Kyriakos Pierrakakis received India’s minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, at the ministry in Athens on Tuesday.

The meeting focused on developments in global trade, EU-India commercial relations, and the deepening of economic ties between Greece and India, as well as the strategic prospects for cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides underlined that the ongoing reconfiguration of global trade makes it increasingly important to build resilient supply chains, reliable trade routes and stronger economic partnerships that support stability and growth.

They also explored potential cooperation in shipping, logistics, technology, digitalization, agrifood, energy, tourism and skilled labor mobility. The discussions included new investment opportunities, with Greece positioned as a natural gateway for Indian businesses into the European market, and with India described as one of the fastest-growing major economies in the world.

The ministers also discussed the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), aimed at reshaping trade flows between Asia and Europe, with Greece seen as a strategic hub due to its geographic position, ports and modern infrastructure.
