A Los Angeles jury found Brown liable for negligence, concluding a five-year legal battle that began with Avila's lawsuit in 2021. Avila's sister, Patricia, was awarded $885,000 for emotional distress, and her husband, Oscar Olivo, received $50,000. Avila testified that the attack by Brown's Caucasian shepherd, Hades, resulted in extensive physical injuries, including skin loss, and left her with post-traumatic stress disorder and nerve damage.
