The three orangutans underwent a rehabilitation program at Borneo Orangutan Rescue Alliance (BORA) to learn basic skills, such as the ability to climb trees, look for food and make nests.
A Kalimantan orangutan (Pongo Pygmaeus) is released from its cage on June 23 at the at Gunung Batu Mesangat protected forest in Busang district, East Kutai regency, East Kalimantan. The East Kalimantan Natural Resources Agency (BKSDA) cooperated with Kelinjau Production Forest Management Unit (KPHP) and the Center for Orangutan Protection (COP) released three Kalimantan orangutan individuals. Three Kalimantan orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) individuals were released into their natural habitat at Gunung Batu Mesangat protected forest in Busang district, East Kutai regency, East Kalimantan, on June 23.The three were previously kept as pets and are identified as Bagus, Eboni and Ruby.
