NewsUS NewsEmpire State BuildingA masked couple were seen climbing the the radio and television transmission tower on top of the Empire State Building in New York City before unfurling a banner and apparently agreeing to get married18:37, 01 Jul 2026Updated 13:44, 02 Jul 2026Masked couple propose ON TOP Empire State Building after terrifying CLIMB STUNTA couple have been arrested after climbing to the top of the Empire State Building in New York, before flying a huge banner, with one appearing to propose to the other afterwards.The pair, a man and a woman now identified as Russian climbers Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerkus, were seen climbing up the broadcast aerial on top of the iconic building while both wearing masks.On reaching the top of the antenna on the building, which stands 443 meters (1,454 feet) above the New York streets, they unfurled a massive banner.It read: "When the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace," CBS news reported."After the two managed to climb all the way to the top of the radio and television transmission tower for their stunt they spent several minutes on top before climbing down again.The two, who were the subject of a 2024 Netflix documentary titled Skywalkers: A Love Story, could then be seen hugging and kissing.Once they reached a lower platform the man dropped to one knee and appeared to propose to the woman.
