Egypt and Turkey have taken another step toward deepening their strategic collaboration, with the leaders of their intelligence services meeting in Ankara to discuss the Gaza conflict and other security issues in Africa.
Ibrahim Kalin, the head of Turkey's National Intelligence Organisation (MIT), attended the conference, as did Hassan Rashad, the head of Egypt's General Intelligence Service.
According to security officials, the conversations centered on the execution of the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire deal, as both parties expressed rising alarm over what they saw as persistent Israeli violations.
The intelligence chiefs agreed to improve interagency collaboration in order to handle events around the truce.
During the discussion, Kalin reaffirmed Turkey's commitment to assisting the Palestinian people, emphasizing that Ankara will continue to give aid via all relevant channels, as seen on TRTWorld.
