Ukraine is testing laser-based air defense systems, ramping up production of low-cost interceptor missiles, and expanding the combat use of drones, Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has said.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, Fedorov made the remarks during the large-scale defense technology event Brave1 Advantage.

According to the minister, Ukrainian specialists have already obtained the first results from tests of laser air defense systems.

"We are already testing a laser system and have achieved certain results. We are not disclosing many details yet, but work in this area is progressing actively," Fedorov said.

He also said that in May, Ukrainian interceptor drones shot down nearly 7,000 Russian Shahed and Gerbera drones.
