Detectives have launched a manhunt and released CCTV images after a 17-year-old girl was cornered and raped outside a Surrey railway station.The British Transport Police (BTP) are urgently appealing for public assistance to identify a man who they believe holds vital information about the horrific attack at Guildford railway station. The ordeal began at around 7:00 PM on Sunday, January 19, 2025, when a man approached the teenager and her group of friends as they walked toward the station. According to investigators, the encounter quickly escalated once they arrived at the premises as the man initially tried to pressure the girl into boarding a train with him.When she refused, he began making explicit sexual demands, which she also rejected.The group moved back outside the station, where the suspect managed to isolate the 17-year-old from her friends before carrying out the rape.The victim managed to break free from her attacker and ran back to her friends, who were still waiting outside the station's front entrance. The British Transport Police (BTP) are urgently appealing for public assistance to identify a man (pictured) who they believe holds vital information about the horrific attackBTP Detective Sergeant Nick Thompson condemned the attack, noting that the perpetrator deliberately preyed on a minor.'The person responsible for this horrific crime targeted a vulnerable victim who was just 17 years old at the time of the attack,' DS Thompson said. 'Specialist officers continue to support her and her family as we follow all lines of enquiry.'Acknowledging the shock waves the incident is likely to send through the local area, DS Thompson urged residents to look closely at the newly released CCTV images.He said: 'We understand that this incident will cause concern among the local community and I am appealing to them directly to help us identify the man in these images.
