Hospitals that don't contract with Medicare aren't beholden to federal regulations that guarantee treatment for all-comers. One of those hospitals is Nutex Health in New Mexico. The facility has also allegedly exploited a loophole in the No Surprises Act that allowed it to quadruple its revenue, funneling bills through the arbitration process, which can secure payments three to nine times the in-network rate.
