“The Sopranos” creator David Chase, former James Bond casting director Debbie McWilliams, “Nomadland” producer Mollye Asher and “The Hurt Locker” producer Greg Shapiro are among the speaker at Karlovy Vary Film Festival’s program for film industry folk, KVIFF Industry Days.
In an on-stage conversation on July 8 at Kaiserbad, Chase will reflect on his contribution to TV and film storytelling as part of the “Screen Focus Sessions.”
McWilliams, who has cast every James Bond film since 1981’s “For Your Eyes Only” and who also worked on the cult comedy “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” will be interviewed by Variety on July 10 in the Festival Lounge at the Hotel Thermal.
On July 7, Asher and Shapiro will take part in a discussion titled “Curating Projects and Building a Producing Identity.” Asher will also take part in the Film Independent workshop organized for Czech and Slovak producers. In addition, on July 6, she will appear with Mathias Noschis, strategist for the Alphapanda agency, as part of a discussion panel titled “Audience First: Rethinking Film Marketing Before Distribution.”
Other speakers at Industry Days include “Succession” cinematographer and director Andrij Parekh, and BAFTA-winning actress, screenwriter and producer Sharon Horgan, known for “Catastrophe” and “Divorce,” who will appear together on July 8 at the session titled “The Cinematic Series: Storytelling in the Age of Streaming.”
