HyderabadThe Transport Department is set to crack the whip on vehicle showrooms which have been delivering vehicles to buyers allegedly without issuing valid Temporary Registration (TR) certificates. The drive will also check whether dealerships have been charging customers more than the prescribed amounts.In a circular issued to Joint Transport Commissioners, Deputy Transport Commissioners, Regional Transport Officers and District Transport Officers, Transport Commissioner K. Ilambarithi directed that inspections be carried out immediately upon receipt of the circular and completed within 15 days.As part of the drive, officials have been directed to verify registers and records at dealerships, check whether vehicles are being delivered with valid insurance policies, and ensure that price lists are being displayed as mandated.The circular instructs officials to report violations, if any, immediately. Show cause notices will follow. Proceedings are to be initiated under the relevant provisions, including the suspension or cancellation of dealers’ trade certificates, in accordance with the relevant rules of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, read with the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988.
