ST. PAUL, Minn. — Good morning from Minnesota Wild Free Agency Central! The opening bell today is at 11 a.m. Please come back and refresh this story often, as we’ll be updating throughout the day with any and all Minnesota Wild news.To get us started, a few re-signings are in the works.Following Tuesday’s re-signing of right winger Bobby Brink to a one-year, $2.75 million contract, the Wild are close to deals to bring back veteran forward Nick Foligno and rugged defenseman Zach Bogosian.Foligno, acquired at last year’s trade deadline, has scored 251 goals and 612 points in 1,287 career regular-season games and has also played 79 playoff games. This would be the 20th NHL season for Marcus Foligno’s older brother. He scored two goals in 11 playoff games for the Wild and a goal and three assists in 17 regular-season games after coming over from Chicago.
Foligno, 38, brings versatility to the Wild as he can play wing or center, remains a strong penalty killer and can take draws on the PK.Bogosian, 35, will be returning for his fourth season. He has scored nine goals and 36 points in 183 games and is plus-13. He dealt with myriad ankle issues last season, missing 41 regular-season games. He also had to miss the final playoff game in Denver. The Wild will likely pursue a couple of wingers on Wednesday and sign a half-dozen or so depth players to two-way contracts, including a goalie. This, of course, is barring trades. You can read some of the options here (guys like Anders Lee, Andrei Kuzmenko and David Perron may make sense), and one more player who may make sense is Oliver Bjorkstrand, the Denmark-born skilled winger who spent a lot of his childhood in Hopkins, Minn., because his dad, Todd, and most of his family are from Minnesota.Bjorkstrand would have interest in the Wild, according to a source close to the player, speaking under the condition of anonymity to discuss negotiations that aren’t public. But his ask in terms of years and salary might be too steep for the Wild.As we’ve indicated for some time, the Wild are cutting the cord on Mats Zuccarello and Vladimir Tarasenko. Both will be testing the market on Wednesday. The Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks could make sense for Zuccarello, who should have plenty of interest.Anyway, stay tuned because we’ll be updating this story throughout the day.Jul 1, 2026Connections: Sports EditionSpot the pattern.
