Secret military exercises involving Russian troops, conducted by China last year, were personally approved by Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, and at least four Russian and Chinese generals were directly involved in their organization.

Reuters stated this in an article, citing two European officials, Ukrinform reports.

According to the agency's sources, the participation of such high-ranking figures in exercises related to the war in Ukraine indicates the importance of such cooperation for Russia and China, which has raised concern in Europe, although Beijing denies that the exercises took place.

A secret Russian document seen by Reuters contained a direct reference to an internal order issued by Belousov in August 2025. The document stated that, according to Belousov's decision, a Russian Armed Forces delegation traveled to China to take part in exercises at People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) facilities.

It also described in detail one of the training courses - a three-week seminar on radiological, chemical and biological protection, which took place in November at a military facility in Beijing.
