Colleen Zenk, who received three Emmy nominations for her role as Barbara Ryan in American soap opera As The World Turns, was arrested in May and had her arraignment earlier this month.Zenk was arrested by police officers in Collier County, Florida after a witness reported that she had crashed her car into a parked vehicle whilst leaving a car park.According to the arrest report, officers responding to the crash report made contact with Zenk, whom the witness had said was "stumbling" when she got out of her vehicle, to ask where she was prior to the crash.Zenk allegedly told the officers that she was at a a bar, where she had two wine cups. The officers reported being able smell alcohol on her breath and asked her to perform a field sobriety test. They also said that she was "having difficulty balancing herself" as she left the car.Following their contact with Zenk, she was arrested on the charge of driving with an unlawful blood alcohol content and causing damage to property, and on the charge of driving with an unlawful blood alcohol content of 0.15 or higher or with a person under 18 in the vehicle. The second charge is likely to relate to her blood alcohol level being higher than 0.15, as in her citation, the officers mentioned there was a dog in the car, but no other people. They also added that video footage of the crash had been obtained from a nearby business. At her arraignment on 10 June 2026, Zenk pled not guilty to the charges and, as such, the case will go to trial, with a pre-trial hearing set to occur at the end of July.DUI offences can be either misdemeanours or felonies in Florida. Under Florida law, felony charges apply where the DUI offence results in serious bodily injury to another person, if this is the third or more DUI conviction or is it results in the death of another person. None of these apply to Zenk and she is likely to be tried against misdemeanour charges. If convicted, Zenk could face up to 12 months in prison and fines between $2000 and $4000 as her blood alcohol level was alleged to be 0.15 or higher and because this would be her second DUI conviction. In June 2017, Zenk was convicted of driving with an unlawful blood alcohol content of 0.15 or higher and was given a 12 month suspended sentence.
