The psychological thriller stars David Morrissey, Lucy Cohu, Felicity Jones and a young Tom Hardy.‌Meadowlands was later given the alternate title Cape Wrath by Showtime to satisfy US audiences and to give it a darker, more suspenseful edge.‌Cape Wrath follows the Brogan family as they enter witness protection and relocate to a seemingly perfect suburban community. But beneath the calm exterior lies a web of secrets, paranoia and danger, as their past refuses to stay buried.A young Tom Hardy stars in the series as Jack Donnelly, long before his success in Venom, Inception, Locke, The Dark Knight Rises, and Mad Max: Fury Road.‌And Tom's not the only impressive cast member with The Walking Dead and Sherwood star David Morrissey playing Danny Brogan, and COBRA's Lucy Cohu taking on the role of Evelyn Brogan.Other stars include Coronation Street's Tristan Gemmill, Casualty’s Melanie Hill, Death in Paradise’s Don Gilet, Blue Lights’ Sian Brooke, and The Wire’s Clarke Peters.A synopsis for the series, which is only made up of one season, reads: "Picturesque and crime-free, Meadowlands appears to be a suburban paradise where the Brogan family can start a new life.‌"However, they soon realise that it is not so easy to escape the past, and their haven becomes a world of paranoia and psychological intrigue with shocking surprises around every corner – especially the particularly stunning revelation that they can never leave."The series was filmed in Kent. Liberty Square at Kings Hill doubles as the local town centre, and The Kings Hill Golf Course was used for a number of scenic exterior shots.Wye College also features, while the exterior of Maidstone Leisure Centre also feature frequently throughout the series.‌In 2007, the series received mixed reviews, with many calling it intriguing and addictive but felt it failed to tie up some loose ends.American audiences likened it to the popular crime drama Twin Peaks, with one fan writing: "I don't want to give anything away as to what Meadowlands is about but I would best describe it as a cross between The Prisoner and Twin Peaks."While another added: "Twin Peaks son and Desperate Housewives' cooler, darker brother!"Article continues belowAll episodes available of Cape Wrath will be available to to stream on 5 from Thursday, July 2.
