Dhaka is set to host a large-scale discount shopping festival, Dhaka Discount Fest 2026, bringing together 250 local and international brands under one roof to offer discounts of up to 75 percent. The three-day festival will be held from December 10-12, 2026, at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center, Agargaon, organised by Eventcomm with Ventora Communications Limited as a strategic partner.At a press conference at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka today, organisers said the event aims to become South Asia's largest discount festival, featuring brands from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, as well as other Asian and European countries, with flash sales and limited-time offers on top of the discounts.The festival aims to create a platform where consumers can buy from leading brands at attractive prices while helping businesses expand their reach, organisers said. Businesses booking stalls by July 16 will get an early-bird discount of 50 percent.Md Taslim Amin Shovon, project director of the festival, said the initiative aims to build connections between brands and consumers, strengthening Bangladesh's retail sector, while Shafiqul Islam, head of operations, called it the first initiative of its kind in the country, aimed at making quality products more affordable.Jinnat Ara Bari, chief facilitator for Women Empowerment at the festival, said many women entrepreneurs struggle to reach wider markets, and the festival would let them showcase their brands to buyers and partners.Organisers plan to make the festival an annual event, with editions to follow in Chattogram, Rajshahi, Sylhet, and Khulna next year.
