Mohammad Reza Morad Behrouzi, a political prisoner held at Choobindar Prison in Qazvin, sustained physical injuries and was transferred to a hospital for treatment after being assaulted by several inmates following his relocation to a detention ward.
According to a report by HRANA, the incident occurred on the evening of Monday, June 29, after Mr. Morad Behrouzi was moved to Ward 2 of the detention facility at Choobindar Prison. The report notes that he was being held in this ward in direct violation of the principle of separation of crimes, which led to him being attacked by some inmates.
As a result of the altercation, Mohammad Reza Morad Behrouzi suffered facial lacerations, as well as injuries to his hand and ribs. Following the assault, he was transferred to Shahid Rajaee Hospital in Qazvin, where he is currently undergoing medical treatment.
Mohammad Reza Morad Behrouzi was arrested on June 13 of this year after appearing before Branch 1 of the Interrogation Office at the Public and Revolutionary Court of Mohammadiyeh County, and was subsequently transferred to Choobindar Prison.
Before his arrest, he had received a formal summons to appear before the branch to defend himself against charges of “sending videos, images, or information to foreign media and virtual networks contrary to national security” and “intelligence activities or operations in favor of Israel or other hostile groups and countries against national security.”
