The business of burgers Nearly a decade after opening its first restaurant in Ireland, BuJo Burger, long beloved of the burbs, has launched its most ambitious venture yet, at Central Plaza, on Dame Street, Temple Bar. The new venture is spread across three floors in the Sam Stephenson-designed former Central Bank Building. The 5,500sq ft venue also showcases its most ambitious food offering to date, including a dedicated breakfast menu, new dessert offering, rotating limited-edition burgers, and an immersive live-action Sharing Table centred on a bespoke grill specially imported from Venice, offering a front-row view of BuJo’s signature chargrilling technique. Festival of food To celebrate a pioneer of sustainability, head west to Green Earth Organics, this year celebrating its 20th birthday by introducing a new Sustainability Festival, featuring thought leaders from food, health, nature and the environment. The event takes place at its 28-acre 100 per cent organic certified vegetable farm in Corrundulla, Co Galway, on Saturday, September 12th 2026. Top names on the line-up include restaurateur JP McMahon, Grow It Yourself’s Mick Kelly and zero-waste chef Conor Spacey, and Green Earth Organics’ founder Kenneth Keavey, while visitors can also enjoy food trucks, tastings, live music and more. Tickets are €40 for grown-ups and €10 for children. Wishbone exterior Getting the Wishbone Chicken lovers rejoice. After what turned out to be a temporary hiatus, Wishbone restaurant is back. It has reopened its Dorset Street doors under new ownership and is busy serving up its classic buffalo wings and Korean honey barbecue tenders, as well as crispy shrimp and bang broccoli. Don’t miss the vodka dip sandwich, thin and crispy fried chicken schnitzel, fully dipped in a classic vodka sauce, served on a fresh pretzel baguette with fior di latte mozzarella, sweet pepper, and roast cherry tomatoes, with pesto mayo and freshly grated parmesan. The cocktail menu has plumped up its feathers too, with signature serves such as Pecking Order, made of Absolut Vanilla, pineapple and lime. Kick-start your shopping If you’re picking up your weekly grocery shop over the coming weeks, look out for the Irish food start-ups set to feature on a Lidl aisle near you as part of its Kickstart programme. The two-week promotion, now in its 10th year helping small businesses get on supermarket shelves, this year includes locally made food brands such as Mammas Gelato, RYSE Chocolate Energy Bars, Zingibeer, Niks Tea and Gran Gran Foods.
