Threads is rolling out several updates to Live Chats, including translation support, new moderation tools, and expanded access for Community Champions. Here are the details.

Threads expands Live Chats functionality

As spotted by TechCrunch, Threads added several capabilities to Live Chats today, after announcing the feature last April.

Live Chats let up to 150 users join public, real-time group conversations around live events, with support for messages, photos, videos, links, reactions, and polls. When a chat session is full, users can still watch the conversation, react, and participate in polls.

When it first launched, Live Chat sessions could only be created and hosted by a small group of creators and Community Champions. Starting today, all Community Champions can create and host their own Live Chats, with the option to invite up to three co-hosts to help manage the conversation.
