An inspector and a head constable was awarded three years' imprisonment for bribery here on Tuesday evening (June 30, 2026).According to the police, in August 2018, the Kolathur police seized the vehicle of Senthil, a resident of Mettur, in connection with a gambling case. To release his vehicle without filing a case, Kolathur inspector P. Ravindran (50) and head constable Ilango (52) demanded ₹5,000 as bribe from him.Unwilling to give a bribe, he approached Salem DVAC, and as per their direction, he gave the bribe amount to the duo on August 10, 2018. At that time, the DVAC caught them red-handed. Subsequently, they placed under suspension.The case trial was held at the special court for the exclusive trial of Prevention of Corruption Act Cases on Tuesday and the court found the duo guilty and awarded them three years' imprisonment and imposed ₹5,000 as fine.
