Evan Bernstein / Getty ImagesJune 30, 2026 10:27 am EDT Updated The Premier Lacrosse League closed a $100 million financing round, the league announced Tuesday, led by Ares Sports and Alibaba co-founder Joe Tsai, who owns the Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty, along with ESPN and actors Glen Powell and Rob Mac.The league, founded in 2018, consists of eight teams across the United States. The latest funding comes two years out from the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, which will include lacrosse, and the PLL said the money is aimed at growing the league before the Games.“Lacrosse is entering one of the most important periods in its history. With the Olympics on the horizon, we have an opportunity to introduce the sport to a new generation of fans and athletes around the world,” said league co-founder Mike Rabil. “Our focus is on building the infrastructure to support that growth through elite competition, broader distribution, youth participation, and a stronger professional ecosystem.”Singer Warren Zeiders and actor Tony Cavalero will also join as investors. Jim Miller, Ares co-head, will join the league’s board of directors, while Powell will join as a creative advisor, with an eye toward bringing PLL and Women’s Lacrosse League teams to Texas.The PLL said recent fundraising will go toward media distribution, commercial partnerships and sponsorships, investment in the WLL and youth access to the sport. The league’s games currently air on ESPN and ABC.
