Nigel Farage has declared his largest single payment from one of his many interests outside politics after cashing in £270,000 from a gold merchant. The Reform leader's payment from Direct Bullion for four hours' work per month over three months this year equates to £22,500 per hour.It was revealed in the regular release of MPs outside interests today and follows previous six-figure sums from the firm, including £189,300 registered in January 2025.Mr Farage is front and centre on the Mayfair-based firm's website, including a video in which he extols its qualities in his role as a 'brand ambassador'.But his well-remunerated work outside Westminster - where he draws a £98,000 salary as an MP - comes at a time when his personal finances are in the spotlight. He continues to face questions over an unconnected £5 million gift received from Thai-based billionaire Christopher Harborne. The Reform leader has reasoned that he did not need to declare the gift, which he was given before he announced he would stand for Parliament in 2024, because it was not related to politics. The Clacton MP has given various explanations for the gift, including that it was to pay for his personal security, and that it was a 'reward' for campaigning for Brexit throughout his political career. The Reform leader's payment from Direct Bullion for 12 hours work over three months this year equates to £22,500 per hour Mr Farage is front and centre on the Mayfair-based firm's website, including a video in which he extols its qualities in his role as a 'brand ambassador'.In a recent round of interviews, Mr Farage insisted the gift was a 'wholly private matter', and refused to say if he had spent any of it on security, or on anything else.Parliament's standards commissioner is investigating whether Mr Farage should have registered the gift. According to constituency data released by the House of Commons Library it would take the average worker in his Essex constituency around eight months to earn his £22,500 hourly rate as registered in the latest payment. The £270,000 banked is also just £2,000 below the cost of the average home in the seat on the North Sea coast, data shows.According to the Reform leader's latest register entry, he also earned £18,402 for an estimated six hours of presenting on GB News. Reform has been approached for comment.A spokesman for Nigel Farage said: 'As has previously been reported and declared Nigel Farage is a brand ambassador for Direct Bullion.'
