LAHORE: As many as eight children lost their lives on Tuesday, while several others were injured, when the roof of a room housing a tuition centre collapsed in Lahore’s Kahna area.

According to a list of the deceased provided by Lahore General Hospital, the eight children were aged between five and 16 years.

A Rescue 1122 spokesperson feared that the death toll could exceed 10, as the rescue team on the spot reported to the Emergency Services headquarters that the condition of the trapped children was critical.

Rescue teams were present at the site and rescue operations were underway as of the latest update.
