The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Taiwo Oyedele, says President Bola Tinubu’s reforms prevented Nigeria’s economy from collapsing.
Oyedele said this on Tuesday in Abuja during a plenary at the 2026 Nigeria Employers’ Summit organised by the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA).
Oyedele, who spoke on the theme “The Reforms in Focus: The Milestones, The Challenges, The Prospects”, said Nigeria’s economy was nearing collapse before the reforms, especially the removal of fuel subsidy.
“Before the subsidy removal, Nigeria had less than three months before a major fuel crisis.
“People would have had money without finding petrol because the subsidy had become unsustainable,” he said.
