Polish minister says Ukraine withdrew from drone technology sharing agreement
Poland will not send its remaining MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine as part of a deal announced in January that was expected to bring 14 Soviet-made aircraft to Kyiv in exchange for drone technology for Warsaw.
In an interview with Polish TV on Monday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said that Poland will not transfer its remaining MiG fighter jets to Ukraine because Kyiv did not follow through on the cooperation agreement.
Kosiniak-Kamysz explained that Poland had offered what he described as a “partnership approach”: Ukraine would receive MiG aircraft in exchange for sharing its advanced drone capabilities, including technology, expertise, and operational know-how.
However, while Ukraine initially accepted the proposal, he claimed it later withdrew from the arrangement, leaving Poland without the expected benefits.
