Ukraine's military has struck a satellite communications center in Russia for the second time in a week.According to Militarnyi, Ukraine has conducted renewed strikes on the Dubna Space Communications center this morning, June 30.Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the latest strikes in a post on Facebook.Zelensky wrote: "Today, our long-range sanctions against Russia for this war have again reached the center of Dubna space communication in the Moscow region. This is a special satellite object used, in particular, for the reconnaissance and coordination of the activity of the Russian occupation contingent in Ukraine."More than 500 kilometers (311 miles) from our state border to this facility. Recently, our Defense Forces of Ukraine have already reached four such Russian centers - not only in Moscow, but also in Vladimir regions. Step by step we are executing our plan of long-term sanctions and making it as difficult as possible for the aggressor state to carry out zagarbnytskyi operations against Ukraine and the occupation of our territories. Appropriate actions are being prepared for other similar objects of the enemy. Thank you for the aptitude to our warriors! Glory to Ukraine!"The strikes come just more than a week after Ukraine previously hit the Dubna site. The facility was commissioned in 1980 by the Order of the USSR Minister of Communications as an Olympic facility, at the time to broadcast the games for the European countries and the Atlantic region during the Moscow Olympics.The current conflict in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022, when Russia launched a military invasion of the country. Since the conflict broke out, there have been an estimated 400,000 to 1.5 million casualties - killed and wounded - as of November 2025.This year so far, the Ukrainian guerrilla group Atesh has also attacked communications infrastructure in Russia, including in the Kherson region and Belgorod.Ukraine reportedly previously suffered issues of its own with satellite connectivity when Starlink allegedly shut off coverage to some parts of the country. Owner Elon Musk has denied this, and SpaceX said the reports were inaccurate.
