Absolutely Fabulous star Jane Horrocks has issued a warning to social media users after passengers who 'didn't have tickets' stole her bags while travelling to London11:25, 30 Jun 2026Updated 11:25, 30 Jun 2026Absolutely Fabulous' Jane Horrocks has been left enraged after her luggage was stolen by train passengers who "didn't have a ticket". The actress, who is best known for playing Bubble in the BBC sitcom, had been travelling from Manchester to London when her belongings were swiped. The star, 62, has since hit out at train firm Avanti West Coast after her suitcase was stolen. Lancashire-born Jane claimed that the train company were "not protecting their customers," after the people in question were able to stay on board the service, despite not having a valid ticket.Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Jane said in view of her 13,000 followers: "Do be careful travelling on @AvantiWestCoast trains. I was travelling from Manchester to London recently, and two people without a ticket were allowed to remain on the train. They then stole my suitcase. It's a thing apparently. Shame on Avanti for not protecting their customers."When Avanti West Coast replied, asking if Jane had reported the issue to the British Transport Police, she confirmed: "Yes, of course."A spokesperson for the force said: "British Transport Police (BTP) officers are investigating after a woman reported that her suitcase had been stolen on a Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston train at around 2.50pm on Sunday 14 June. Enquiries are ongoing."A spokesperson for Avanti West Coast told the Mirror: "We are aware of the incident and are supporting the British Transport Police with their enquiries."Many of Jane's followers on Elon Musk took to the replies section of her post to share their concern, as well as offering support to Jane. One person said: "Sorry your case was stolen & the comments made re looking after luggage."The problem people is that you have a seat, there is no room at the seat near or around it to store a suitcase. A holdall, backpack or smaller bags yes a case no & so you leave it at the storage area provided."A second added: "I've always been nervous about luggage storage on trains. You often have to leave it out of sight of where you're sitting, so anyone could take it at an intermediate stop and you'd be none the wiser." Meanwhile, a third person typed: "Avanti West Coast, what sort of a company are you. Two thieves allowed to stay on a train they have no ticket for? Then steal the luggage of a passenger."But a fourth person said: "Theft is never acceptable, and I hope they're caught by BTP and you get your case back. But is it the train provider's responsibility to guard your private property? If your car gets scratched in Tesco's car park, is it the shop's fault?"Article continues belowJane isn't the only famous face to have suffered a loss after luggage was stolen from a train this year. Broadcasting legend Edith Bowman was left in tears after her suitcase, containing her grandfather's ashes was stolen while travelling from London to Cheltenham. She said in February: "I've just realised what's in my bag is a jewellery box, and in that jewellery box are some really lovely personal things. In particular, a pinkie ring that's got my grandad's ashes in it." Edith was later reunited with her suitcase, but the case was empty when it was returned to her.Like this story?
