WhatsApp is rolling out a major privacy update that allows its three billion users to connect via unique usernames instead of sharing their personal phone numbers. Users can begin reserving their handles this week before the official feature launches later this year. To prevent impersonation, WhatsApp is holding back names for public figures and giving priority to verified businesses and creators from Facebook and Instagram.
