A young man was injured in a road crash in Faleula on Sunday afternoon after a rental vehicle allegedly crossed into the wrong lane and struck his car, forcing it into a roadside ditch, according to the victim’s mother.

Tavaetoto Eleele Toilolo said the crash occurred at about 1:30 pm when the rental vehicle, identified as a vehicle from Queen Esther Rentals, was travelling at high speed before veering into oncoming traffic and hitting her son’s tyre.

“My son’s car was crashed into by a rental which was driven by two youths,” Toilolo said.

She said police have been informed of the incident and that the matter is now in their hands, which is why media inquiries were directed to Police Commissioner Samuelu Afamasaga for comment.

Toilolo also alleged that after the collision, the two young men abandoned the rental vehicle at the scene and left by boarding another passing vehicle.
