WORLD OCEANS DAY: This event saw attendance from various dignitaries, including Deputy Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Mr Narend Singh (right), and the Mayor of eThekwini Municipality, Mr Cyril Xaba (left). Representatives from Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, Transnet National Ports Authority, WILDTRUST, as well as numerous universities and research institutions were also present, reflecting the collaborative spirit required to tackle pressing environmental challenges.

Recently, a significant event was held at the Nelson Mandela Passenger Terminal in Durban Port, marking World Oceans Day with the launch of two vital research projects funded by the Water Research Commission (WRC).

Led by Dr Jennifer Molwantwa, the Chief Executive Officer of the WRC, the event brought together key government officials, environmental organisations, researchers, and stakeholders dedicated to enhancing the health of South Africa's oceans and safeguarding its environmental future.
