New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday sought response from the Rajasthan government on a plea filed by self-styled godman Asaram challenging an order of the state high court which had upheld his conviction and life sentence in the rape case of a minor in 2013A bench of Justices MM Sundresh and Sheel Nagu issued notice to the state government and sought its reply within two weeks."We are not granting bail now. The Supreme Court has asked the Rajasthan government to respond within two weeks to a plea by Asaram, challenging his life sentence for the 2013 rape of a minor. While upholding his conviction, the Rajasthan High Court had previously acquitted him of gangrape charges. The apex court stated it would consider bail only if his life is in danger, after hearing the state's reply.
