The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has announced that the party has filed an appeal against a recent court ruling and secured a stay of execution application, insisting that the party remains a legally registered political platform eligible to participate in Nigeria’s electoral process.
In a statement issued, Dickson disclosed that the appeal and accompanying application for a stay of execution had been served on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), urging the electoral body to “do what is right according to law and what is legally sensible.”
According to him, despite the legal challenge, the NDC remains a duly registered political party that has participated in all electoral processes conducted so far.
He stated that the party had already concluded its nomination processes nationwide, adding that candidates for various elective offices had emerged through primaries monitored and documented by INEC.
