MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment on Tuesday announced a P85 daily wage increase for workers in Metro Manila, marking the largest wage hike ever approved by the National Capital Region’s wage board.
A total of 1.1 million daily earners are expected to benefit from the increase, Labor Secretary Francis Tolentino announced during an event at the Malabon Central Market.
Tolentino described the wage hike as “historic” as it will raise the daily minimum wage from P695 to P780.
