The Northern Elders Progressive Movement has applauded the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as the remarkable progress in combating insecurity and advancing national development, while urging Nigerians to unite in support of peace and stability.
In a statement issued on Sunday by its Secretary-General, Yusuf Abubakar, a copy of which was made available to Arewa PUNCH, the group said the federal government had demonstrated resolve in addressing the country’s security challenges, particularly in the North-West, where sustained military operations have weakened the activities of armed bandits.
According to the movement, ongoing security offensives have disrupted criminal networks operating in several states, restoring confidence among residents in affected communities.
“The progress made in degrading the operational capacity of bandits across several states deserves recognition and encouragement,” Abubakar said.
“While isolated attacks still occur, there is no doubt that our gallant Armed Forces have intensified operations deep inside notorious forest hideouts, dismantling criminal enclaves and restoring hope to affected communities.”
