Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday (June 29, 2026) handed over the job letters to 1,042 newly appointed teachers for the government schools during a programme held at the Indoor Stadium Khelgaon in Ranchi.Addressing the teachers, Mr. Soren asserted that newly appointed teachers will determine the future of the State’s intellectual landscape and how the next generation will stand on its own feet.“From today, you will function as an integral part of the State government. It is your responsibility to ensure that Jharkhand rises to the ranks of leading states in the education sector. The State government has entrusted you not merely with a job, but with the responsibility of shaping the future of the State’s next generation,” Mr. Soren said.Extending his best wishes for a bright future to the newly appointed teachers, the Chief Minister stated that teachers are the most crucial link in the process of nation-building and development of the society. He added that the future of the state’s children will be determined by the teachers’ knowledge, conduct, and work style.Mr. Soren pointed out that all the newly appointed teachers would serve as the eyes, ears, and hands of the government. Given the challenging geographical and social conditions of Jharkhand, the responsibility of delivering quality education to remote rural areas rests on the shoulders of these teachers, he added.The Chief Minister stressed that there should be no reports of untoward incidents or mistreatment involving children in Jharkhand’s schools. He warned that if any form of brutality or inhumane behaviour towards children occurs, the government will not hesitate to take strict actions to uphold the law.Mr. Soren said that if the teachers discharge their duties with honesty and diligence, both society and the state will get the benefits. He urged teachers to adopt a sensitive and skillful approach in their interactions with children. He mentioned that in today’s world a person’s capability, competence, actions, and ideas have more value rather than their caste or religion.“These appointments mark a significant milestone in strengthening the administrative system. Jharkhand is a state rich in potential and talent. Although the state has consistently provided ample resources to the nation and the world, it has received very little in return; this is why the provision of quality education here was significantly delayed,”Mr. Soren said.He also said that the responsibility of overcoming these challenges was being entrusted to new teachers who will go to remote and inaccessible areas to bring about change in society. The Chief Minister stated that for a long time, the State was seen merely as a source of mineral wealth; however, the State government was now implementing schemes that prioritise education, employment, and the future of the youth.Mr. Soren highlighted that his government has opened the ‘Mukhyamantri Utkrisht Vidyalaya’ (Schools of Excellence) in the State, offering education at the same standard as private schools. Launched in 2021, this initiative has yielded significant results: while 9,000 to 10,000 seats are available across urban and other areas, the State is receiving over 40,000 applications for admission, he added.The Chief Minister also said that his government was continuously striving to improve the academic quality of the State’s government schools.
