The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old man for allegedly assaulting a nine-year-old girl in the Bulkachuwa community of Katagum Local Government Area.

PUNCH Metro learnt from a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, CSP Nafiu Habib, on Sunday that the suspect was arrested by operatives of the Bulkachuwa Divisional Police Headquarters following a complaint lodged by the victim’s father.

According to the statement, the incident occurred at about 5pm on June 14, 2026, when the suspect allegedly lured the child, who was hawking soya bean cakes, to an uncompleted building under the guise of buying from her before assaulting her.

Habib said, “According to a report received at the Bulkachuwa Divisional Police Headquarters on June 15, 2026, at about 5 p.m., the complainant, a resident of Bulkachuwa, reported that on June 14, 2026, at about 5 p.m., one Muhammadu Audu of the same address lured his nine-year-old daughter while she was hawking soya bean cakes.
