The shutdown of relay towers has significantly weakened the Russian military's ability to control drones in real time and redirect them during flight.

Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat said this on television, Ukrinform reports.

"The shutdown of relay towers has indeed weakened the enemy's ability to control drones in real time in the areas where those towers are located," he said.

Ihnat explained that the relay towers enabled signals to be transmitted over long distances, ensuring a stable connection between the operator and the drone.

At the same time, he noted that drones themselves can act as relay stations for one another, forming a kind of network that allows the operator to adjust the flight path and change targets in real time.
