We all have flashlights on our smartphones nowadays, so when I saw the Coast KL35R flashlight, I was a little skeptical it could be necessary. But after using it for over a month and experiencing just how small it is, I’m completely sold. It’s so much brighter than the flashlight on your phone, small enough to keep on your keys and it even has a couple of other tricks up its sleeve that make it the perfect light to have handy at all times.

This flashlight’s compact design, powerful beam, multiple light modes and two-way clip make it one of the most useful flashlights I’ve ever tested. I keep it on my keys, and it’s already been incredibly helpful on nighttime dog walks and when I’m searching for things in my dark garage.
I came across the Coast KL35R while attending the Outdoor Market Alliance’s Media Show in early 2026. Alongside voice-activated lanterns and nifty multitools being shown by other brands, the Coast team revealed this tiny flashlight that immediately caught my eye. I’ve never seen a flashlight this small before, and although I soon figured out there are countless other small options, the KL35R has special features that make it stand out.
