“Babcock University unequivocally states that this document is false, unauthorized, and does not emanate from the University,” it said.
The Babcock University, Ogun State, has threatened legal action against content creator and comedian, Carter Efe, after dismissing as fraudulent a certificate he presented online claiming he graduated with a “First Class Upper” degree in Biochemistry from the institution.
The university, in a public notice issued on Monday, described the certificate attributed to Carter Efe, whose real name is Oderhohwo Joseph Efe, as “false, unauthorised, and fraudulent,” insisting that it did not originate from the institution.
The controversy followed an interview with content creator, Egungun of Lagos, in which Carter Efe claimed he graduated from Babcock University with first-class honours in Biochemistry. He subsequently shared what he described as his graduation certificate on X, indicating that he graduated in 2023.
However, Babcock University said the document being circulated was not genuine and pointed out several inconsistencies, including the use of the academic classification “First Class Upper,” which it said does not exist in the institution.
