The Supreme Court has now upheld that decision, effectively exhausting Ogidan's legal options over the forfeited funds.

The Supreme Court has affirmed the final forfeiture of N1.582 billion linked to Steve Ogidan, a former National Coordinating Consultant of the Nigerian Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL), to the Federal Government, bringing to an end his legal challenge against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The apex court, in a judgment delivered on June 19, 2026, upheld the earlier decision of the Court of Appeal, which had affirmed the forfeiture of the funds after finding no legal basis to overturn the orders of the Federal High Court.

The five-member panel of the Supreme Court, led by Justice Habeeb Adewale Abiru, dismissed Ogidan's appeal, describing it as lacking merit.

The court also ordered him to pay N5million to the EFCC as the cost of the litigation.
