Former Transport Minister S.S. Sivasankar.

The Job Fraud Investigation Wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) has issued summons to former Transport Minister S.S. Sivasankar (DMK), directing him to appear before investigators on Wednesday in connection with an alleged recruitment fraud involving a promise of employment in the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC).

According to police, the summons was served at Mr. Sivasankar’s residence as part of the investigation into a complaint lodged by S. Srinivasan, 65, a retired Special Sub-Inspector of Police, that he was allegedly cheated of ₹23 lakh on the assurance of securing an Assistant Engineer’s post for his son in the MTC. The summons come days after the arrest of L. Ilanchezhiyan, 60, in Erode by a special CCB team.

Investigators said Ilanchezhiyan claimed to have close political connections with Mr. Sivasankar and collected ₹23 lakh from Mr. Srinivasan in several instalments between 2023 and 2025, promising to arrange an MTC job for the complainant’s son. However, neither the job was secured nor the money returned, the police said. During the arrest, the police recovered two identity cards from Ilanchezhiyan’s possession as part of the evidence. Investigators also sealed Ilanchezhiyan’s house in Ariyalur district.
