June 29 (UPI) -- A woman was killed over the weekend in an alligator attack near a river in Florida, and in a separate attack a child was injured.

A 31-year-old woman was swimming with friends along the Econlockhatchee River at Little Big Econ State Forest when she was attacked on Sunday. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The woman was bitten on both arms. Two alligators were taken from the area of the attack to be tested to see if they were involved in the attack.

"The FWC extends its deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time," the Florida Fish and Wildlife and Conservation Commission said in a statement.
