Koubek announced his exit a matter of days after their disappointing competition came to an abrupt end.‌Despite being drawn into Group A, the European nation were eliminated after taking just one point from games against South Korea, South Africa and Mexico. As he did so, he hit out at what he considered to be "half-truths" which have been issued during the tournament.In his resignation statement, he said: "After the failure at the World Championship, for which I bear joint responsibility as head coach, after considering all the circumstances, I have come to the conclusion that I will offer my position to the president of the FACR, David Trund.‌"After mutual debate and consultation, the president accepted my proposal. The consequence is the termination of my work with the national team. I will keep my fingers crossed for them, like every Czech football fan."His departure swiftly follows the exit of South Korea manager Hong Myung-bo.
