Hyperscale Data has completed the acquisition of 48.5 acres of land in Michigan to expand its data center campus.The company first entered into an agreement to buy the property in March 2026, which more than doubles the land owned by Hyperscale Data, bringing it to 83 acres.The 48.5 acres are currently forested, but will be used to expand the existing campus."We are thrilled to complete this acquisition and look forward to growing the Michigan Campus in an efficient and responsible manner," said Milton "Todd" Ault III, executive chairman of Hyperscale Data. "The acquisition will provide us with the opportunity to solidify our Michigan Campus and provide a natural, long-term buffer between our operations and the surrounding area."With the recently announced signed master services agreement, this provides us the ability to build on the immense progress we have made over the years as we evaluate our overall expansion plans while we seek to maximize the service offerings available to potential customers at our Michigan Campus." Separately, Hyperscale Data has said it will publish monthly progress reports on the project, starting in July 2026.Earlier this month, Hyperscale revealed it had secured a 20MW customer contract from an unnamed California-based neocloud for the Michigan site.That agreement is for an initial 20MW deployment, expected to be operational in Q4 of 2026, and could see the customer scaling up to 52MW of compute capacity.At the time, Hyperscale Data's subsidiary Alliance Cloud Services said it was currently working on the procurement of key electrical and infrastructure equipment for the data center campus, and is retrofitting 60,000 sq ft (5,575 sqm) at the site for the unnamed customer's deployment. This process is expected to cost ACS $100-120m.The Michigan campus, located at 415 East Prairie Ronde Street, Dowagiac, is currently mostly used for Bitcoin mining, but the company will reallocate power to AI compute as it is deployed. Hyperscale Data has said it may continue certain mining operations at the Michigan site.The company acquired the original campus in May 2022. The facility spans 617,000 sq ft (57,320 sqm). Built in 1972 as a manufacturing space, Hyperscale has been repurposing the site for HPC and colocation since early 2025, and earlier this month revealed further plans for a robotics lab.
