White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced on Monday, June 29, that Steve Witkoff, the US Special Envoy for the Middle East, and Jared Kushner, former White House senior adviser and informal Middle East adviser to Donald Trump, will participate in a meeting in Doha with representatives of the Islamic Republic on Tuesday.

According to the White House spokesperson, technical talks will be held concurrently with the meeting of senior officials. Referring to the Doha negotiations, she added that Trump wants the peace process to continue.

Minutes later, Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social: “Iran has requested a meeting. It will take place tomorrow in Doha.”

In response to these statements, Mizan News Agency, affiliated with the Judiciary, wrote: “In a continuation of his delusions and contradictions, Donald Trump claimed that Iran requested a meeting and that this meeting will take place tomorrow in Doha.”

Over the past few hours, international media and senior US officials have spoken of the negotiations in Qatar as finalized, while state-affiliated media in Iran continue to label news related to the meeting as untrue.
