Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha on Monday assured that a robust regulatory framework would be put in place for the proposed beach shacks in Visakhapatnam, following concerns raised by various sections of society.The Home Minister said the initiative is being introduced as a pilot project to boost tourism and enhance the city’s appeal as a tourist destination.Speaking to the media, Ms. Anitha said that that the government had carefully examined all aspects before deciding to implement the project.She said that tourists from Andhra Pradesh currently travel to other coastal States to experience such facilities, contributing to the tourism revenue of those States. The government, aims to create similar tourism infrastructure within the State.The Home Minister added that the project would be implemented with strict safeguards to ensure that the beach shacks operate in a responsible and orderly manner without compromising on public safety or law and order.She further added that the government would closely monitor the implementation of the pilot project and take all necessary steps to prevent any untoward incidents.
