Police arrested a woman in connection with the death of a five-year-old girl here on Monday.Following a complaint from Karthigai Selvi, that her daughter Sai Deepthi (5) was missing, the Ramanathapuram Town Police registered a girl missing case on Sunday. Inquiries revealed that Karthigai Selvi’s sister-in-law Sabarika, 22, was allegedly behind the death of the girl child.Discreet probe indicated that she had hurled the girl child in the neighbour’s well in the wee hours of Sunday. The suspect Sabarika confessed to the police that she committed the crime as Kartigai Selvi and her children were getting all attention in the family, while she was neglected and that her child was differently-abled.Under such circumstances, she indulged in the criminal act.
