Police vehicles and officers are stationed across key points in Durban’s Point area during an ongoing SAPS operation involving stop-and-search and immigration verification processes

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in KwaZulu-Natal are conducting a law enforcement operation in the Point area of Durban targeting undocumented foreign nationals.

Police said the operation, involves SAPS and the Durban Metro Police Service, with several streets closed off as stop-and-search operations are carried out in the area.

According to the police, foreign nationals suspected of being in the country illegally are being verified by immigration officials from the Department of Home Affairs.

SAPS said several businesses were closed after those operating them were found to be either without proper permits or in the country illegally.
